Happy Chickies 1 week

They made it to 1 week and they grow as fast out of the shell as they do inside.

After only 7 days their little chickie wings have grown a beautiful set of little chickie flight feathers.
And... they are beginning to grow tiny tail feathers.

Still, very chickie cute!

They are not scared of me as I do spend a good amount of time with them and their mom shows trust in me which helps greatly.

Red is a GREAT mama! She teaches them all about how to be chickeney. She even attacked the poor neighbor dog Oscar (who did not retaliate one bit but, just retreated slowly with a pitiful "What did I do?" look on his face). She looks like she is gaining some weight and her comb is gaining it's color back. Sometimes she hops up into a nest box and calls them and digs out a bowl but they just can't make it up there yet.

They are running and can jump really high with the help of their wings.
Some even enjoy a ride on mom's back (especially Dusty).
A few go off from mom to chase bugs (the CUTEST activity I think) and nap in the sun.

Let's take a look at how they have grown.
Check out the new primary feathers and baby tail feather growth starting in.
One week old.

Enjoying the chicken tractor at 3 days old.
